APIC Provides Input to CMS Regulations
APIC submitted comments to CMS on proposed regulations covering annual updates to payment and quality programs for acute care, long-term acute care, and cancer hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, and inpatient psychiatric facilities. APIC comments included:
- Support for CMS proposals to update the healthcare personnel (HCP) COVID-19 vaccination reporting measure to align with updated CDC vaccination recommendations for all of these settings.
- Opposition to adoption of a reporting measure of percent of patients/residents who are up to date on COVID-19 vaccination in post-acute care settings until CMS addresses concerns about the measure identified by the Measure Applications Partnership.
- Recommending that eventual measurement of equity and disparity across CMS quality programs be incorporated into broader healthcare surveillance systems using standardized and validated data in order to provide equitable care to all sectors of our population.
