Emerging Infectious Diseases

Recent years have seen outbreaks of previously unknown diseases; rapid spread of known diseases beyond geographic areas where they typically exist; and persistence of infectious diseases that cannot be controlled. The world is seeing diseases reemerge after they had significantly declined perhaps due to global travel and increased antibiotic resistance.
