APIC Honors Award Recipients at Annual Conference
ong-time Member, Innovative Leader, Connie Steed, Receives ‘Carole DeMille Achievement Award’
San Antonio, Texas, June 5, 2024 – The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) presented awards to distinguished leaders at the 2024 APIC Annual Conference held in San Antonio, Texas.
Connie Steed, MSN, RN, CIC, FAPIC, received APIC’s Carole DeMille Achievement Award. This is APIC’s lifetime achievement award, and honors IPs whose contributions have improved the practice of infection prevention through research, performance improvement, visionary leadership, and community service.
“Connie has been a mentor and a leader throughout her 44-year infection prevention career,” said 2024 APIC President Tania Bubb, PhD, RN, CIC, FAPIC. “Her passion and contributions have benefitted the field immensely and are deserving of APIC’s highest honor – the Carole DeMille Achievement Award.”
The following individuals also received awards:
James H. Moses, MD, MPH, received the APIC Healthcare Administrator Award. This award recognizes the pivotal role that healthcare leaders play in establishing an organizational culture that enables and supports infection prevention efforts.
Curtis Donskey, MD, received the Distinguished Scientist Award. This award is presented to an individual who has made significant and sustained contributions to the science of infection prevention and control.
Julie Johnson, MSN, RN-BC, CIC, and Jenna Rivers, MPH, CPH, CIC, received the Emerging Leader in IP Award. This award recognizes new infection preventionists who have demonstrated a commitment to the field and their professional growth.
Heroes of Infection Prevention awards were presented to the Ambulatory IPC Team at Henry Ford Health, and to Amber Dellefave, BSN, RN-BC, CIC. A Heroes Implementation Research Scholar award was presented to Rana Feghaly, MD, MSCI.
