CDC Update on Ebola Outbreak in Uganda

The CDC issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Update to keep healthcare providers informed about the ongoing outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in Uganda caused by Sudan virus. No suspect or confirmed EVD cases related to this outbreak have been reported in the U.S. or other countries outside of Uganda to date. The HAN update provides recommendations for clinicians, health departments, and laboratories for early diagnosis to prevent the spread of EVD.

In addition, CDC released Ebola specimen referral guidance for public health laboratories on testing patients with suspected EVD. This document includes information on:
